Mortal Kombat 1

Few franchises from the days of the earlier video game platforms kept the same status as Mortal Kombat did. Being released in 1992, it has been a boost for fighting games, even though it was inspired by earlier titles such as International Karate on Atari and C64 (The older ones among our readers will remember ;)) and obviously Street Fighter. Mortal Kombat was as realistic as possible and brought a unique design and storyline.

Across all platforms, Mortal Kombat was released, saw several sequels, spin-offs, movies, and even TV series (which in the end was not too well received). In fact, products under the Mortal Kombat brand achieved sales of several billion US-Dollar. No question that two years after the release of the last prequel, Mortal Kombat 11, Fans of the franchise were waiting for the next episode. But instead of releasing MK12, Netherrealm Studios rebooted the Brand and re-starts with Mortal Kombat 1 taking the players to the New Age Time created by the iconic character Liu Kang. For those of you that were (or still are) fans of cheap action movies of the 90ties: Actor Jean Claude van Damme appears in the game as Jonny Cage. But also Holywood Actress Megan Fox enters the stage as Nitara.

Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack

Not too much to mention on the game concept, you can't reinvent the wheel here. We will obviously see a refinded combat system and we expect that the Developers focused on balancing out newcomers and veterans. For those of you that look forward to cross-platform battles - this will not be possible for launch but is announced in a tweet  (or nowadays xweet?) by the developers.

Look forward to the release on Sept 19th, while the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition gives you early access from Sept 14th. It also will include the so-called Kombat Pack and 1,250 Dragon Krystals (the Mortal Kombat in-game currency). With the Kombat Pack, you will have Jonny Cage and early access to six new playable characters and five new Kameo Fighters (Both available post-launch).

Mortal Kombat 1 will be available on XBOX X|S, PC (Windows), and even Nintendo's Switch. If you want to return to your younger years when we all spent endless hours in fights in our Kid's rooms, or are a newcomer by age or previous ignorance, prepare to embark on a
visceral journey into the heart of Mortal Kombat.
